Gunna Addresses RICO Case Fallout in New Song “Bread & Butter”!!!

These Rappers Are Toast!!!

First Name Tom, Last Name Foolery… And I’m Everybody’s Uncle!

Including this cooperative truth teller… Gunna.

“Lawyers and the D.A. did some sneaky shit, I fell for it,” he raps on his first solo song since his prison release.

Gunna has shared a new song and video, “Bread & Butter”—his first solo track since being released from custody in December after admitting affiliation with the Young Stoner Life (YSL) collective. The song, which you can hear below, addresses his public life in the intervening months. He alludes to various rumors of snitching in the Atlanta rap scene and denies speculation he collaborated with police.

Fuck I pay the lawyers all those mills for?/Just so I won’t have to say a word to dodge a railroad,” he raps in the second verse, later adding, “Never gave no statement or agreed to take no stand on ’em…. Lawyers and the D.A. did some sneaky shit, I fell for it.”

Gunna was released last year after taking an Alford plea, meaning he pleaded guilty to the one charge against him—conspiracy to violate the Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations (RICO) Act—while maintaining his innocence. He was sentenced to five years in prison, but that was commuted to time served and the rest of the sentence was suspended. Young Thug remains incarcerated as he awaits trial.
