First Name Tom, Last Name Foolery… And I’m Everybody’s Uncle!

Especially this lyrical mastermind… Tone.

Nowadays, lyrical masterminds are hard to find. You have a greater chance of winning the jackpot of a MASSIVE lottery or being struck by lightning. However, every now & then the rap gods bless us with artists that understand how to effectively utilize their lyrical craft & prove mumble rappers are still far below the “banging bars” bell-curve.

Recently, Tone caused uproar with the release of his highly-anticipated album entitled, Anxiety. Fans that patiently waited for its release finally got their paws on one of the best albums of the year.

The album, which features 22 solid tracks, is composed of a harmonious blend of smooth, ear-clinching, snares & 808s. Some of the unforgettable tracks; Perks, Xannex (sic) & Adderall, Nightmares of My Childhood, Last Train & Trouble, tells detailed events of Tone’s life.

“When things are hard, I’m ma pray to God, every day we talk - stick to the script, I’m ma play my part,” confesses the humble rapper.

Teenage Mom & Anxiety are two of the album’s strongest tracks. Teenage Mom takes listeners down a path similar to 2Pac’s classic Brenda’s Got A Baby. TM has a positive message that brings attention to an alarming statistic that preys upon most female adolescents in high-poverty areas. The self-titled track of the album, Anxiety, leads us down a dark, twisted path towards The Sunken Place. Instead of his wrist, Tone cleverly carves his stormy thoughts over a terminally ill beat. He killed it, instead of himself.

Overall, Anxiety manages to hold its weight & is every bit as advertised. Tone has certainly proved he’s a lyrical…
