Toddler’s Death… Guatemala Immigrant Sues U.S. for $60M!
First Name Tom, Last Name Foolery… And I’m Everybody’s Uncle!
Especially this grieving mother… Yazmin Juarez.
Recently, a Guatemala immigrant’s legal team filed paperwork suing the United States for the wrongful death of her toddler. The mother, who was traveling with her daughter to the U.S. for a better lifestyle & future opportunities, was detained at the border by Immigration & Customs Enforcement.
According to a reputable source, Yazmin’s daughter, Mariee, developed a severe respiratory infection while being detained at an immigration facility in Dilley, Texas. 6 weeks after being released, Mariee died from her illness. The distraught mother’s legal team immediately filed the $60 million wrongful death lawsuit.
“The facility Ms. Juarez & her daughter were detained at was unsafe, unsanitary & inappropriate for small children. The medical attention she [Mariee] received was woefully inadequate, neglectful & substandard,” claimed Yazmin’s representative.
We hope Mariee’s death becomes the ripple that brings about waves of changes to poorly operated immigration detaining centers. The U.S. now faces many reasons to double check the conditions of their facilities.
60M!
